Ce projet déploie l'arme de l'imagination
et les possibilités réparatrices de la création artistique pour imaginer des espaces où les queers de couleur, les personnes à deux esprits et transgenres pourraient s'imaginer dans un passé queer -- et par extension dans un futur queer. Inspiré par les mouvements de l'afrofuturisme et Futurisme autochtone, Queer futurism.e est un événement artistique collaboratif coordonnée par Jules Pidduck et organisée par kimura byol lemoine à divers endroits durant l'été 2023 à Tiohtià:ke/Montréal.
Rassemblant des artistes, Queer futurism.e comprendra une exposition collective (événement de vernissage), et une projection de vidéos.

This project deploys the weapon of the imagination and the reparative possibilities
of artistic creation to imagine spaces where
queers of colour, two spirit and transgender
folk might imagine themselves in a queer
past -- and by extension in a queer future.
Inspired by the movements of Afrofuturism
and Indigenous Futurism, Queer futurism.e is a collaborative art events coordinated by Jules Pidduck and curated by kimura byol lemoine at various venues during the summer of 2023 in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal.

Reconnaissance des territoires traditionnels
Pour commencer, nous aimerions reconnaitre que l’exposition Queer Futurism.e a lieu sur le territoire autochtone non-cédé de la nation Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk).
Dans le contexte d’une exposition sur les futurs queer possibles, il est important de nommer que la violence coloniale et son legs sont directement liés à l’annihilation des futurs autochtones. Dans le passé, comme dans le présent, l’expansion de la
suprématie blanche a reposé sur la mort physique, culturelle, spirituelle et linguistique des peuples autochtones. En tant que descendant.e.s et hériti.er.es du colonialisme de peuplement, ici à Tiohtiá:ke (Montréal), nous avons la responsabilité d’imaginer des futurs queer en coconstruisant aux côtés de nos homologues autochtones. À notre sens, on ne peut pas façonner un futurisme queer
sans s’engager simultanément dans un effort décolonial.
Ainsi, puissions-nous devenir de meilleur.e.s habitant.e.s de la terre, puissions-nous
protéger les vies autochtones et puissions-nous chérir les futurs autochtones (queer).

Land acknowledgment
To start, we’d like to acknowledge that the Queer Futurism.e exhibition is held on the unceded indigenous territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) nation.
Within the context of an exhibit about possible queer futures, it’s important to state that colonial violence, and its legacy, are directly tied to the annihilation of indigenous futures. In the past, as in the present, the expansion of white supremacy has been dependent on the physical, cultural, spiritual and linguistic death of indigenous peoples.
As descendants and heirs of settler colonialism, here in Tiohtiá:ke (Montreal), we have the duty to co-construct alongside our indigenous peers, when we imagine queer futures.
In our eyes, it’s impossible to create any form of queer futurism without simultaneously engaging in decolonial efforts.
Thus, may we be better inhabitants of the land, may we protect indigenous lives, and may we cherish (queer) indigenous futures.
